You know when clients come back and forth, asking for a-million-and-one versions of a quote… only to go with the one you gave them in the first place! Wouldn’t it be nice to have an easier way to manage all those different versions of a quote, rather than manipulating the Fee Estimator every time? The good news is, now you do, with Fee Estimator Snapshots on Fixed Fee projects at Pipeline stage.
The rest of this blog post is going to walk you through how it all works.
Let's imagine we've just got off the phone to the client and they want us to revise our original quote. Before I make any changes I want to save the first version for reference.
To save a Snapshot of the Fee Estimator before I make any changes, we click the More Stuff dropdown and select "Save Snapshot". The Snapshot will save a "Version" of our Fee Estimator, containing all the Fee Stages, Tasks, Roles, Hours, etc., as well as any Additionals and Adjustments - absolutely everything.
Every time the client asks for a change to be made, we click Save Snapshot to build up a complete list of previous Versions.
If the client then decides they want to progress with an old version of the quote, we'll need to bring that Version back to life. We do that by clicking into the More Stuff dropdown and selecting View Snapshots. We'll then be greeted by a list of all the different Versions of the quote we've Snapshot.
To view the Snapshot of the previous version, simply click on its name. You then have two options:
- “Restore This Snapshot” to make it the current version again
- “Close” to revert back to the current version.
